Making A Start In Montenegro

August 29, 2008

Breaking new ground, OM’s newest outreach has started in Montenegro. Although the ships have visited this recently independent country, this is the first time a full time of team of workers have been based there. After praying for their new role and open doors into the community, this summer the team had their first ever outreach – a children’s club on the beach! The initiative was well-received by residents of Bar and has led to many contacts for future work among young people. Given that there are only a handful of churches in the country, give thanks for such a great beginning!

Bring Out The Books!

August 13, 2008

It was a landmark moment in the process of launching Logos Hope. Renovations on board the vessel (currently taking place in Koege, Denmark) had reached the stage where books could be unpacked and placed upon the new shelves for the first time. Once launched, the ship will offer visitors a far greater selection (8,000 different titles) of Christian and educational literature than any other OM ship. Pictured here is Daniel Vaupel, who besides being the Logos Hope Book Fair Manager was also Paul’s cabinmate on board Doulos and best man at our wedding.

Four Weekends Of Family & Friends

August 8, 2008

We haven’t lived in the UK for a decade and now we’re making up for lost time! Our spare room is being put to good use as we welcome different friends and family for a visit. Fortunately we’ve arranged things so everyone isn’t arriving at the same time! First to visit was Anita – a good friend from our time in Japan who has now relocated back to the UK. Paul’s mother has been here for a long weekend and now we’re preparing to welcome some of his old university friends. Finally, Phil & Margaret Holder from our church in Reading will soon be staying in accommodation at the OM UK base. We’re blessed to have so many visitors to share our lives and ministry with!
